White Lies (Preview)

Posted on January 21, 2011

After over a year of delicate and jerky indie anthems, Leeds is once again preparing for a dark cloud of absorbing gloom to settle over the city. White Lies release their second album Ritual on 17th January and play the Leeds 02 Academy on Sunday 13th February.

Their return is all set to unleash a storm. A few years ago on the infamous NME Tour, the same venue saw them billed alongside other acts that were seemingly ‘Bigger Than Us’ (the title of their new single) – Florence and The Machine, Friendly Fires and Glasvegas. That night White Lies soaked us in their own brand of dark, electro-rock; based in mortal subject matter and delivered with the kind of pure adrenaline found only in desperation.

This is a gig which promises to be a memorable showcase for the band’s Leeds following. Those fans already recognise that White Lies set themselves apart from any particular ‘scene’ with quality songwriting and an overwhelming sonic atmosphere. Be there to find out for yourself!
